A guide to commissioning your fantasy portrait masterpiece with pink chair Photography

TL;DR: To prepare for a bespoke fantasy portrait with Pink Chair Photography, I guide you through a one-on-one collaborative process. This includes a discovery interview, mood board creation, and meticulous world-building. Because I hand-craft every digital and physical element, I specialize in producing 1 to 3 museum-quality images exclusively within my Goose Creek studio.

How do I book a fantasy portrait in the Charleston area?

The process begins with a direct consultation. Whether you are in downtown Charleston, Mount Pleasant, or Summerville, I work with you to plan a studio-exclusive session at my Goose Creek photography studio. Because my fantasy art requires a highly controlled environment to manage lighting and custom elements, these sessions are held indoors to ensure the highest artistic quality.

What is the first step in the creative process?

I start every commission with a deep-dive interview to get inside your head. I need to understand your goals, your aspirations, and the "Why" behind your portrait. To help me detect the lighting and aesthetic your eye naturally gravitates toward, I require you to create a mood board of inspirational images. We’ll look at:

  • Museum Inspiration: Which classical paintings or eras speak to you?
  • Personal Significance: Is there a deeply personal reason you need to inhabit this specific character or world?

How is the "World-Building" handled?

As your artist, I am responsible for designing the world you will inhabit. This is a collaborative back-and-forth process where I ensure every detail "seals the deal" on your vision.

  1. Wardrobe & Aesthetics: I coordinate with you to ensure hair, makeup, and wardrobe items are obtained well in advance.
  2. Element Creation: I create custom elements—sometimes physical, sometimes digital—that will be integrated into the final composition.
  3. Visual Synergy: I make sure all participants are perfectly aligned with the intended era or fantasy theme before we begin.

Why does Pink Chair Photography only offer 1–3 final images?

Fantasy portraiture is an incredibly time-intensive art form. My work requires meticulous post-processing where I hand-build the environment around you. By focusing on 1 to 3 definitive masterworks, I can dedicate the necessary hours to ensure your final wall art or high-resolution digital is a flawless work of art.

What happens after the photoshoot?

Once the session in my Goose Creek studio is complete, my work as your digital artist begins. Our collaborative effort ends at the camera, and I move into the post-processing phase to blend the real and digital worlds. The final result is a breathtaking piece of custom art delivered as a high-resolution digital or a physical piece of wall art.

FAQ: Common Questions for Charleston Fantasy Art

Q: Where is the Pink Chair Photography studio located?

A: My studio is located in Goose Creek, SC, and I serve the entire Charleston region. While I do offer traditional outdoor sessions during cooler temperatures, my fantasy portrait art is a studio-exclusive offer to maintain total control over the artistic environment.

Q: Do I need to bring my own props?

A: This is determined during our interview. I will guide you on what wardrobe or props need to be obtained to fit the "world" I am designing for you.

Q: How long does the post-processing take?

A: Because of the meticulous nature of my digital artistry, the time between the photoshoot and the final presentation can take between 1 to several weeks as I hand-craft each element of your 1–3 images. There are larger fantasy portrait collections available but my sweet spot is between one and three images for best quality.
