Lola: Restoration of a Dormobile

In a world where everything seems to be moving at lightning speed, there's something deeply gratifying about slowing down, rolling up your sleeves, and breathing new life into old treasures. Meet Lola – not your typical sleek, modern vehicle, but a British Dormobile with a rich history and a story to tell. Looking at my images of Lola and recalling the conversation I had with her owner, I realized that I made note of everything but her owner's name.  If you know Lola, tell her wonderful caretaker I'm looking for her!

Lola's custodian is not your typical car enthusiast either. She's a courageous woman with a passion for preserving the past, one meticulous restoration at a time. I should also mention that she is an established drag race driver, so this methodical labor of love speaks to the versatile nature of her sense of adventure.  For her, refurbishing Lola wasn't just about fixing up an old van; it was a labor of love, a journey of rediscovery, and a tribute to craftsmanship of yesteryears.

As Lola emerged from the shadows of her previous owners to reflect the aesthetic of her present caretaker, her transformation captured the imagination of an entire community of like-minded individuals. At the recent car show near Charleston, SC, where Lola made her grand debut, it wasn't just about shiny, new vehicles gleaming under the sun. It was about celebrating the resilience of the past and the dedication of those who refuse to let it fade away.

The joy in refurbishing older things goes beyond the satisfaction of a job well done. It's about connecting with history, embracing imperfections, and finding beauty in the overlooked. It's about cherishing the stories embedded in every scratch, every dent, and every faded paint chip.

But perhaps the most rewarding part of this journey is the sense of camaraderie that comes with it. In a world where individualism often reigns supreme, there's something truly special about being part of a community that shares your passion, your struggles, and your triumphs. Update: I found her!  Carla Holling is the proud owner of lovely Lola, and is an amazing woman of many talents.  I am so glad to have met her!
